Settings of Black Mountain Completely Annexed to Town
The Settings of Black Mountain Completely Annexed to Town
It’s great to have a hometown. As of September, the final phase of The Settings of Black Mountain, comprising 11 homesites, was annexed into the town of Black Mountain, thus completing the process. Because the 364-acre property is now part of the town, residents will benefit from city water and utilities—and much more.
“They’ll have the feeling of being an essential part of a very nice and well-respected small town,” said Marc H. Wilson, executive vice president of The Settings Development Companies. “They’ll fit in. We’ve seen that our residents truly enjoy being a part of something, and I see them volunteering their time and donations for charities in the area, civic posts and so forth. Our residents will be giving a lot back to the town of Black Mountain. In all likelihood, they are active in the big cities and suburbs they’re coming from—and they’ll want to start making a difference here in Black Mountain.
Wilson points out that the town of Black Mountain welcomed the community, even though the parcel of land was relatively large for a town of Black Mountain’s size. Town decision-makers were impressed with The Settings’ commitment to environmental stewardship.
“They allowed us to be a part of the town in part because we promised not to develop the ridgeline, to designate approximately one-third of the property as permanent greenspace and to make sure the land is highly protected. We’re not going to let anyone go in there and tear our all the trees.”
Wilson points out that The Settings second community in western North Carolina, The Settings of Lake Rhodhiss, has been annexed to the town of Valdese, as well.
